Executive Mayor to deal with illegal dumping in Wards 1 and 2

The Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metro Municipality, Cllr Thabo Manyoni, will be going on a cleaning drive with a specific focus on illegal dumping in Wards 1 and 2 today (26 September).
This campaign forms part of the Executive Mayor’s call for a partnership between the city and residents to keep Mangaung clean. When he took to office in 2011, Cllr Manyoni said the city remains committed to creating an attractive, clean, green and healthy environment that will serve as the basis for sustainable economic development and enhance the quality of life for present and future generations.
During his state of the city address earlier this year, the EM reiterated the focus on removing illegal dumps, saying: “We are working hard in removing illegal dumps, alien plants and cutting trees and grass in some wards in the municipal area. Also, indigent households in wards 1, 2 & 3 have been supplied with 85-litre capacity refuse bins.”
Cllr Manyoni, accompanied by city officials and councillors, will visit Wards 1 and 2 to deal with the issue of illegal dumping.
