Winter is coming to an end and to get in the spring mood, award winning artist, Nduduzo Makhathini, and his band will bring to you the Gluhwein and Jazz evening.
The Gluhwein and Jazz evenings form part of a series that has been taking place at the Windmill Casino. Who better than Makhathini and his band to conclude this series?
Every generation has its own leading lights. For the current generation of South African young jazz musicians, pianist and composer, Nduduzo Makhathini, stands as a key torchbearer. It’s useful to note the refreshing virtuosity with which the 35-year-old jazzman articulates a decidedly spiritual vision of the world with the piano and his compositional clarity.
Makhathini plays with a bright lyricism and a full sound pallet that give him a markedly wide melodic vocabulary. His music is as open as it is invigorating.
This show promises to be an exceptional jazz experience. He will be joined by some of South Africa’s finest musicians, including Ndabo Zulu on trumpet, Linda Sikhakhane on saxophone, Ayanda Sikade on drums and Thuto Motsemme on saxophone.
The soulful concert will take place on Sunday 26 August in Diamond Lil’s at the Windmill Casino. Doors open at 14:00. Tickets are available from Quicket at R80 presold, or R120 cash at the door.
