Television channel eNCA has confirmed that veteran journalist Ben Said has died.
Said, 45, was holidaying in Mozambique when he drowned in a diving accident on Monday afternoon.
News anchor Dan Moyane said the station was in “deep shock”.
Said rejoined the channel in July and was in charge of editorial as director of news. Moyane said he had already made his presence felt “across all aspects of the business”.
After three and a half years in Instanbul, Turkey, working for broadcaster TRT World, Said had recently returned to South Africa.
Said is survived by his wife and two young daughters.
