On 27 and 28 May 2024 South African citizens who have applied for special votes will be making their mark on the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) ballots from 09:00 to 17:00.
Special votes are for registered citizens who cannot vote at their voting station on Election Day. This then allows you to cast your vote on specific days before everyone else does on Election Day,” said an information sheet by IEC. Registration for special voting closed on 3 May 2024.
According to the IEC home visits are also regarded as special votes. “If your application has been approved to be visited at your home or place of residence where you have applied to cast a
special vote, election officials will visit you where you are living and allow you to vote,” said the IEC.
Special voting for those voted outside the country took place on 17 and 18 May 2024.
