Election in FS goes smoothly

Christal-Lize Muller

The IEC in the Free State says it has been smooth sailing this afternoon after some voting stations in the province didn’t open on time this morning as well as other irregularities.

IEC head in the province, Chris Mepha, told media this afternoon at a briefing at the IEC’s Election Result Centre in the Bloemfontein Town Hall that a total of 228 961 voters at all 1 523 voting stations already casted their votes.

More registered voters are expected to vote later today.

Mepha still encouraged voters who have not yet casted their votes to exercise the right to vote whilst there is still time. He added that Home Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor will join the centre in Bloemfontein later tonight.
