EFF members led by the party’s Free State Provincial Chairperson, Mandisa Makesini, are once again picketing outside the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The picketing is ahead of the court appearance of the 39-year-old husband of Lesedi FM Presenter Dimakatso Ratselane, who is accused of her attempted murder after she was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds in Bloemfontein, reports OFM News.
Makesini recently came out strong and criticised gender-based violence against women and called on men to sit with each other and address the issue among themselves. She also called on women to come together and fight the surge in which she calls a second pandemic in the country.
Makeseni said everyone, including leaders in different communities, should be a GBV activist. Mackenzie Ratselane was arrested in Ennerdale in Gauteng last week. He stands accused of four charges including kidnapping, attempted murder and possession of a firearm and ammunition.
State prosecutor, Sello Matlhoko, last week indicated that the suspect, who was on the run from the law before his arrest, might face additional charges. The state is looking at soliciting additional statements from witnesses.
