Free State Education MEC, Dr Tate Makgoe, will announce the Free State results of the 2020 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations at his annual Well-done Function at the University of the Free State’s South Campus in Bloemfontein today.
This after the Free State once again took the top position in the country by achieving an 85.1% pass rate in the 2020 NSC examinations, as announced by the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, yesterday.
According to Free State Eduction Spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, this year’s announcement will take a hybrid approach, which will entail six events – one in each district and the main event in Bloemfontein.
“The five district events at satellite viewing venues will connect via live stream to the UFS South Campus studio in Bloemfontein where the Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela; MEC for Education, Dr Tate Makgoe; HOD of Education, Adv Tsoarelo Malakoane; other senior officials of the department, sponsors of the events, and the media will be present,” said Ndaba in a statement.
The MEC’s announcement of the provincial 2020 NSC results will be live streamed on YouTube, with the minimal number of attendees, not exceeding 50 at each of the six venues.
In an effort to comply with the current alert level 3 regulations stipulating that no more than 50% of a venue’s capacity may be occupied at a gathering, only the limited number of guests will be permitted at all the venues.
The event will also be broadcast live on 8 Community Radio Stations, SABC Lesedi FM as well as OFM social media platforms.
