MEC Makalo Mohale will be celebrating World Storytelling Day with various learners from 18 to 20 March 2024.

The purpose of World Storytelling Day is to promote the tradition of storytelling as a means of preserving cultural heritage, fostering understanding between cultures, and building connections among people.

This initiative aims to engage, entertain, and inspire audiences while fostering empathy and imagination across diverse communities, by sharing stories through narrations of traditional folktales, personal narratives, and contemporary fiction.

The storytelling sessions will be celebrated over three days on a virtual platform as follows:

Day 1: 18 March 2024: Sesotho story

Day 2: 19 March 2024: Setswana story

Day 3: 20 March 2024: English story

The Department of Education’s MEC, Makalo Mohale, will be joining and reading the story on Wednesday, 20 March. Each session will start at 08:00 daily and last for 30 minutes.
