Bloemfontein – CUT Ixias’ Duan Pretorius is happy with the performance displayed in the Varsity Shield in his debut season and looks to grow and play at a higher level.
Pretorius, whose boot and performance guided his side to an emphatic 35-26 victory over the University of KwaZulu-Natal Impi in the final match in Bloemfontein, told Courant Sport that his debut season in the Shield was nothing like what he had imagined.
“Winning the title in your debut season is just amazing; I did not foresee this. I am grateful for the support,” he said.
The Ixias’ centre, who walked away with Player That Rocks award in the final, also highlighted he would love to play professional rugby.
“I would love to get to the provincial level. However, my aim is to do well and help the team in the Varsity Cup and I will get to that level eventually,” he added.
