Dress to impress with OVI Clothing

Young student Tshepang Mofolo makes clothes "for Bloemfontein by Bloemfontein".

Mangaung native, Tshepang Mofolo, makes clothes for the people of Bloemfontein. The young student started OVI Clothing last year and has since launched a fashion line comprising caps and shirts, called Rose Republic.
Although Mofolo holds a degree in Human Resources, his passion lies in clothing. “My love for clothes comes from my dad. He taught me that it is always important to be presentable and because that was instilled into me, I have had certain advantages. Appearance is important in order to get to where you want to be,” he said. He also stated that the purpose of the clothing he makes is to make the wearer feel as well as look good.
Currently a marketing student at Unisa, Mofolo said that it is important that young people carve out their own paths. “Many of us were not taught that becoming an entrepreneur is a viable option. So we become stuck in one mind-set. Life is about more than working for anyone else because when you become an entrepreneur you open doors for others to do the same thing.”
OVI Clothing has been involved in exhibitions around the city and Rose Republic along with License to Chill have been well received by Bloemfontein citizens. “I have seen brands come and go, so I thought I should create something with staying power that people will want to buy not only now but in the future as well,” Mofolo stated. He mentioned that running a clothing brand is not always easy but remains something he enjoys and perseveres in.
Mofolo intends to branch out into other areas of the Free State in order for the brand to grow. “My plan is to get it to grow throughout the Free State. I will do that as soon as I put the right channels of distribution in place,” he added. – Nomaqhawe Mtebele
