The Drakensberg Boys Choir School is set to launch their 2025 national tour next month with the opening concert in Bloemfontein. This comes after the Drakies had a sold-out tour in the United Kingdom last year. The choir was well received on their International tour, getting standing ovations from audiences, including HRH Sophie, the Dutchess of Edinburgh.
“Touring South Africa is essential. After the overwhelming reception we received abroad, including from royalty, we’re thrilled to bring that same energy to our South African audiences. Whether performing in large cities or small towns, our mission remains to unite people through the transformative power of music,” says Hendrik Bekker, Executive Head of DBCS.
The tour will start on 9 – 17 March and will include various cities, starting at Bloemfontein, then heading to Graaff-Reinet, Plettenberg Bay, Still Bay, Stellenbosch, Cape Town, and lastly Pennington.
Attendees can expect the choir’s signature blend of classic choral works by renowned composers in the first half and an energetic mix of African and Afro-Pop rhythms in the second.
