It’s Divas Fever with Sybil

Sybil Lynch

International R&B artist, Sybil Lynch, is heading for the City of Roses for a once-off show at the Windmill Casino on Sunday 7 May.
Lynch, known simply as Sybil, has achieved worldwide crossover status with her cover versions of Dionne Warwick’s hits, Don’t Make Me Over and Walk On By, which were released in 1989 and 1990, respectively. The former became Sybil’s biggest hit in the USA, peaking at No 20. It was also a No 1 hit in New Zealand.
According to a statement by the organisers, Sunday’s event, entitled “Divas Fever”, will appeal to all audiences across the spectrum. Apart from Sybil, it also features local artists such as Jamali, Salome Damons and Vuvu Khumalo.
“We are also celebrating mothers as this event is part of the Mother’s Month Celebration across the country and this will be an ideal gift,” says the event organiser, Zane Koeberg.
Jamali is a South African female musical group, which features Jacqui Carpede, Mariechan Luiters and Liesl Penniken as members. The band was formed on the TV show, Coca-Cola Popstars.
Born and bred in Atlantis, Salome Damons was the co-winner of M-Net Idols Season 5. Following the success of her Idol’s journey, her family started their own reality show, Huis van Davids. Popular for her hit single, What I Do Best, Salome Damons is Cape Town’s own Tina Turner.
Tickets are available at Computicket, Shoprite Checkers and at the door. General admission is R250 and golden circle tickets are R750.
Sunday’s show will start at 15:00 and end at 20:00. For more information, call Morgan on 083-686-8864 or email
