Former Democratic Alliance member Basil Alexander said most disgruntled DA members should rather start a new political party.
Alexander added that most Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality council members are allegedly being targeted and can’t express their views. He said been a DA member since 1994 he has witnessed how the party has lost its core beliefs it started with.
Alexander said the DA is filled with nepotism and unfairness. He was speaking during an event in Bloemfontein on Tuesday where he announced that he will formally be an ANC member.
The Free State ANC chairperson Ace Magashule praised Alexander’s work that he did while still a member of the legislature and said he was very ecstatic by his move.
Alexander explained that even if he faced issues that he wouldn’t like within the ANC, he doesn’t think he will change a political party. “I think the ANC has a broad podium of ideologies and they are the true builders of democracy in this country. I think they would provide me with a fair platform to raise any future issues that I might come across,” said Alexander.
