Sometimes people like mixing the role of the legislature and the executive council.

This is according to the Free State Legislature speaker Ouma Tsopo. She says they will be clarifying the difference between the legislature and the municipality council today in Botshabelo.

Tsopo says once a resident has acquired citizenship, for those who don’t have Identity Documents they can be able to vote in the upcoming 2014 national elections. Tsopo says they are working together with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to make sure that people know the importance of voting and voicing their views.

She will be addressing the youth at the Nicro Hall. “As the Free State Legislature, we are an activist legislature which is mainly focused on democracy. So, we must make sure that constituency of the province are brought into the picture by taking part in this particular program,” she says.

“Our role as the legislature is to educate Free State people about the citizenship, democracy and what the legislature stands for. It is important for the community to be involved in everything the government do,” says Tsopo.
