The Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Destea) encouraged local consumers to be cautious of unnecessary spending this Black Friday.
“Consumers should be aware that retailers are offering discounts all year round and should not think that Black Friday is ‘exceptional for bargains’. The cost of living has risen,” Destea said.
Pointers for local consumers to consider, as provided by Destea:
- Spend on essentials
- Avoid impulsive buying
- Spend cautiously
- Do not fall into the Black Friday debt trap
- Take note that some deals are not really deals
- Opt for in-house-brands as they are more reasonable than the popular ones
