The Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Destea) gathered with the Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metro, Gregory Nthatisi, and the Executive Management of both offices to work on strengthening relations to provide quality services to the Mangaung residents.
According to Destea, the discussions centred around “exploring potential investments for the Metro because investment is the sustainable source of economic growth; SMME support and support for the township economy to inspire and bring back people’s dignity; focusing largely on matters of environment, converting waste to energy, and aspects of tourism; and the reopening of the zoo.”
“We need to find a synergy of working together as government entities so that we run the same race, for the same purpose; and enhance intergovernmental relations. It is for this reason that we urge to be provided with a comprehensive report within the space of two weeks from the task team comprised of the Destea HOD, Dr Mbulelo Nokwequ, and City Manager, Mr Sello More. The report must include concrete resolutions and clear timelines on how these two government entities can interface and work together in servicing the people of Mangaung,” said Destea’s MEC Thabo Meeko.
