Deputy President Mabuza set to visit Free State

Women’s Month celebrations in the Free State will start with a visit by the Deputy President of South Africa, David Mabuza, who will be accompanied by the Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela, and the MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Thembeni Nxangisa, to engage female farmers.

The dialogue will be held on Thursday 4 August 2022 between 08:00 and 09:00 at the Barolong boo Seleka Royal Palace (Ga Kgosi), followed by the official programme that starts at the Moroka Village, at the Milton Farm, Thaba Nchu, at 10:00.

There are about 500 female farmers that are set to be in attendance. The female farmers will be afforded an opportunity to engage on a variety of challenges faced by women in the agricultural field. Issues including access to funding, access to markets, training and capacity building, amongst others, will be discussed.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has prioritised female projects for the 2022/2023 financial year and as a result there will be a handover of letters of support to 31 female projects, amounting to R20 200 000.
