GALOOME SHOPANE Denosa has lashed out at the lack of security in public hospitals after a nurse was allegedly attacked by a patient’s family earlier this month.
Denosa’s Dolly Tshitlho says the nurse who is in his fifties was attacked by a family whose child died after being helped at the clinic.
The incident happened in Pelonomi PHC in Heidedal.
She says two women and a man were allegedly involved in the attacked, but the man was later dismissed of any charges.
Tshitlho says they have been telling the department about their concerns, but there are still no changes.
“Security does not mean guards only, security is whether they are gates, access control, including security guards. In that clinic there were no guards so we don’t know whether people must first die before anything can happen.”
