Success is defined differently by many people because everyone’s story and road to success is different. In the spirit of celebrating women this Women’s Month, some of the city’s phenomenal women shared what success means to them.

Mary Sithole, Picnic in Bloem owner

I started this business (Picnic in Bloem) as a creative pursuit after having worked in corporate for about five years. Success is something you pursue all the time and everyone has their own definition. It is being able to achieve your goals and maximise your potential. For me, success is as simple as being lucky enough to create dream dates and Pinterest-worthy events for amazing people.

Zita Olinger, Zita Filmz owner

Success to me is inspiring kindness and creativity through a visual medium (video). I’ve actively been crafting in the filming industry since 2014. I love that I get to market each individual’s craft and tell their story. We are going strong, with an additional three teammates backing me and supporting this vision – Willem, Henku and Carl. I have so much love for them.

Yolisa Mdlalose, Modish Enterprise and Mobile Carwash owner

Success to me is about the upliftment of others and making a positive contribution to people’s lives while living positively and finding a balance between personal fulfilment and professional accomplishment.

Boitumelo Molongoana, CEO, Pharmaceutical Services and Head of Pharmaceutical Services in the FS Department of Health

Success means both personal and professional growth where your services benefit people around (colleagues) and the communities you serve.

Simone Vink, Registered Clinical Psychologist

My view on success is that success is finding things in life that continuously inspire you, bring you joy, and make you feel truly fulfilled. It is not necessarily one big thing, but a combination of many.

Tanya Cogle, Pole Fitness Studio owner

Success to me is being truly happy with my personal life as well as with business. If people can walk out of my class with a smile and a ‘I feel good’ mood, then I find the day to be successful.
