The Cavalry School of Dance did very well at a competition that was held in commemoration of Youth Day.

The Cavalry School of Dance did exceptionally well in the Multi Sport Youth Games that took place on 16 June.
The dance school that operates from Batho, Fichardt Park as well as Heidedal, took part in the competition that was held in the Paradise Hall in Bochabela and which was organised by the Mangaung Metropolitan Sport and Recreation to celebrate Youth Day in the City of Roses.
Their coach and dance teacher, Sipho Nopotwe, is extremely proud of his dance group and said they received so many awards at the Multi Sport Youth Games. “The team won a trophy for second place in the line dance team match, five dancers received gold medals, seven dancers received silver medals and two learners were awarded bronze medals in the solo line dance and solo Latino dance categories,” he said.
Due to their excellent results and performances, the team qualified to compete in the provincial championships on 4 August 2018. If the team performs just as well at the provincials, the team may see themselves heading to the national championships.
“I am over the moon and very emotional to see such talent unleashed and they displayed it well. The kids almost did not make it to the event but they showed commitment and dedication to dancing. It is very rare for a kid in our township that is surrounded by drugs and gangsters that they find peace, joy and love through dancing. God is great and it goes to show how He uses us in different ways.”
