The Free State Sport, Arts and Culture MEC, Dan Kgothule, will have to say to the police and public whether he was offered a bribe or not.
This is according to DA legislature member Roy Jankielsohn, after Kgothule reported to the media that Letlaka Media allegedly attempted to bribe him to place advertisements in his newspapers by his department. It has been reported that Kgothule says Letlaka Media owner Tumi Ntsele offered him 30% of his business and he refused.
He says this is an act of corruption and Kgothule should have reported the matter to the police. Jankielsohn has today opened a case with the Hawks against the controversial Letlaka Media.
“In terms of the prevention and corruption combating act, any individual who’s aware of alleged corrupt activities is forced to report these kinds of activities to the South African Police Services. There have been various controversies relating to Letlaka Media in the past and in all instances the company seems to get away with them,” he says.
Earlier this year, Letlaka Media was awarded the tender of the Free State government’s controversial website which allegedly cost R100 million.
