The Democratic Alliance (DA) Manguang Mayoral candidate, James Letuka, today promised to commit to a Mangaung region that works, innovates, delivers, and cares. Letuka was speaking at the parties manifesto launch at the Poelanong Monument opposite the City Hall in Bloemfontein.
Letuka says the party will undertakes to make five commitments to the people of Mangaung to be implemented in their first five years in government.
It includes working with institutions like the Central University of Technology and the University of the Free State to grow and promote innovation. Restore investor confidence in Mangaung, deliver basic services to all the residents in the metro, and launch a professional and efficient Mangaung Metro Police, in collaboration with SAPS to improve the safety of residence.
Letuka says the party will look to create more job opportunities for the 122 000 unemployed youth in Mangaung.
“Today, the unemployment rate in Mangaung is at a shocking 33.5%, according to the expanded definition, which includes those people who have given up looking for work,”
“I am not one for making empty promises. I know that to clean up this mess the ANC have created here in Mangaung will take a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears,” says Letuka.
The local government elections will take place on 3 August.
The five commitments includes:
- A Mangaung that works towards creating prosperity and jobs.
- A Mangaung that innovates to make people’s lives easier.
- A Mangaung that delivers quality basic services to all.
