The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Mangaung Municipality calls for speed-calming in certain areas in the city as most drivers using the roads travel at high speeds that could lead to fatalities.
“The situation is very dangerous and measures should be taken to control speeding to ensure the safety of the residents as well as the road users,” said the DA in a social media post.
According to the DA, the Petition for the Implementation of Speed-calming Measures in Bayswater, Noordhoek, Pentagonpark and Helicon Heights is a response to the numerous fatal accidents caused as a result of speeding.
“The residents of Bayswater, Noordhoek, Pentagonpark and Helicon Heights hereby request that the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality consider the implementation of Speed Calming Measures to control speeding.”
