DA again walks out of Mangaung’s special council meeting

The DA has once again walked out of a special council meeting of the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality.

DA councillors had last walked out of a special council meeting due to the announcement of the city manager, Sibongile Mazibuko’s suspension, and the appointment of acting city manager, Tankiso Mae. DA’s Hardie Viviers says they once again didn’t agree with both issues that were raised on Monday. According to him both points discussed at a special council meeting that took place after an ordinary council meeting in Bloemfontein were unlawful.

“We have appointed Mae to act for a period of three months. The second issue is that we are looking at the legality of the section 56 and 57 contracts,” says Municipal speaker Mxolisi Siyonzana.
