The world-renowned Czech pianist, Jan Bartoš, will be gracing the Odeion stage on Saturday 8 June. Piano lovers can enjoy the work of Beethoven, Janáček, and Smetana from 19:00 on the day, with free entrance at the door.
Bartoš is the Founder and Director of Prague Music Performance and is also the Artistic Director of the international festival ‘Music is …’, as well as the Ivan Moravec Academy. He teaches piano and chamber music at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
According to the Odeion, Bartoš has appeared in solo recitals, with major orchestras and in chamber music concerts worldwide and enjoys a prolific recording career as an exclusive artist.
He has been the recipient of several awards and scholarships, among them the first prize at the Zaslavsky-Koch Competition in New York.
Some of the works performed by Jan Bartoš on Saturday include Beethoven’s 32 Variations in C minor, Janáček’s In the Mists, and Smetana’s Dreams: Six Characteristic Pieces for Piano.
