The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) has warned the public about a bogus cosmetology course falsely claiming to be offered by CUT.

According to the university, it has come to their attention that a company is claiming that the university is offering a Beauty Specialist Course costing R6 000 for 9 – 10 weeks.

“The advert also claims they only accept cash payments, adding that the course will take place at CUT on 31 August,” the university pointed out.

“CUT would never promote any course that requires cash payments. We urge the community to be cautious when considering such courses. Falling for these scams can lead to significant financial loss and disappointment. Pay attention to the language used in posters and any incorrect or misleading addresses,” the university stated.

Furthermore, CUT stated that they do offer a legitimate NQF level 6, 3-year Somatology Diploma and those who would like to seek more information should check out their official courses, by visiting www.cut.ac.za/programmes/somatology.

“Applications for 2025 close on 30 September 2024. To apply for our legitimate courses, you can find all the necessary details and guidance at www.cut.ac.za/application-process,” the university concluded.
