Bloemfontein – SAFA Second Division side, Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State football team, will be looking for maximum points against Moving Spurs to stay closer to the log leaders, Super Eagles, according to coach Teboho Ramakoa.
Eagles are at the summit with 36 points; five ahead of CUT, who are placed fifth.
Although the man at helm had previously highlighted that his side’s aim is not to win the title as yet, he recently told Courant Sport that staying closer to the top spot is what they will always want to achieve.
“This is one of those matches I believe we have to win. The more you lose against teams that are below you on the log means they’re tracking you down. So we need to win to stay at least within the log leaders,” he said.
Spurs, who are lying on the 14th spot with 15 points, suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat at the hands of bottom-placed Real Hearts and will welcome CUT in Qwaqwa hoping to pick up three points at home to better their position on the log.
However, they are up against CUT side whose recent record tells the story. In the last three matches, CUT crushed Hearts 5-2, stunned Harmony FC 2-1 before playing to a 1-all draw with Mangaung Unite.
Ramakoa highlighted that the match against Unite took a lot out of the players, so they are still recovering. However, he is hopeful they will be ready come Saturday.
In the first round in Bloemfontein, CUT and Spurs shared the spoils after playing to a goalless draw. The match at Makwane Stadium kicks off at 15:00.
