The Central University of Technology (CUT) recently unveiled their new fully digitized CUT FM broadcast studios.
According to the institution, the upgrade aims to improve production quality and expand the station’s ability to deliver diverse, multilingual programming to both the CUT community and Mangaung residents. The upgrade also reinforces CUT FM’s position as a key training platform for students pursuing careers in media and entertainment.
Currently, the station broadcasts content in 60% English, 30% Sesotho, and 10% Afrikaans. CUT described CUT FM as a “stepping stone” for students to gain hands-on experience, highlighting its numerous award nominations and wins as proof of its commitment to community-driven media excellence.
Dean of Students, Bernard Sebake gave thanks to the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) for their support and emphasized the station’s role in fostering societal development and sustainability. He said, “Radio is a powerful tool for development. It responds to the needs of society and creates sustainability. MDDA has truly put us on the map, and we are deeply grateful for their support. Now, the responsibility lies with us to ensure that we continue using these platforms to educate and empower young people as the future leaders of tomorrow.”
