According to CUT, Emmerentia Meyers, from the Association of and for Persons with Disabilities Free State, handed over the award to the CUT Disability Unit.

“The CUT Disability Unit is honoured to receive this award as it highlights the impact made by the unit towards building a diverse and equitable society. The university and by extension the unit is committed to promoting diversity on campus among students to create equal educational opportunities for students with disabilities. In addition, the university offers a conducive environment to support and enhance learning for students with special needs,” said Mohau Manyarela, Senior Coordinator:  student academic support.

The unit also serves as a central resource and a starting point for coordinated support for students with disabilities to create an inclusive environment which encourages students to be independent and cope with their daily activities on campus.
