The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) is proud to reach the 4 000 mark at the Autumn Graduation Ceremonies held from 04 to 12 April 2019 on the Welkom and Bloemfontein campuses respectively.

“By Friday this week, 4 251 students would have graduated, including 29 master’s and 10 doctoral degree candidates. It is for the first time that we have reached the 4 000 mark during our Autumn Graduation Ceremonies. This is a great achievement for the institution,” said Prof. Henk de Jager, Vice-Chancellor and Principal at the 2019 autumn graduations.

He congratulated the students for their achievement and thanked them for choosing CUT as their intellectual home. “Today we send you off as CUT graduates, but most importantly, as our ambassadors and proud alumni, confident that you are at the beginning of a new journey of exciting and endless possibilities that are ahead of you. We are not saying goodbye to you, because, as you go out into the real world, you will always be welcome here at CUT.”

“Go out there, make your mark, and make us proud. By graduating today, you are certainly intelligent. Built your character and protect your moral qualities, live your values and be the change that people will see in society. CUT graduates are different; they are people with high ethical values that will be leaders in society. Thank you for choosing CUT. You must leave this ceremony today with a duty to uphold the good name of the institution as your alma mater. Please continue to further your studies. I want to see many more masters and doctoral gowns here in the years to come, and you should be the ones wearing them.”

He also thanked the parents, friends, guardians and relatives for their support. “You have made many sacrifices to see your children, friends and spouses succeed in their studies. Although you are certainly very proud of the graduates’ achievements, remember their achievements are yours, too. The CUT community is thus very pleased and proud to share and celebrate this day with you.”
