As winter draws to a close, fitness and gym enthusiasts are preparing to get back into their routine. CrossFit Resuelto will be hosting its third Iron Eagle Competition in Langenhoven Park on 12 and 13 August to find the fittest team in Central South Africa.
Head Coach Robbie Heuer says more or less 80 athletes will take part in the Competition.
“We have two divisions – the elite and scale division. This means that anybody will be able to take part. It is still going to be tough, there are still hard workouts, but skill wise you will be able to perform,” he says. “We’re testing strength and all of your fitness modalities on the day.”

For Robbie, sticking to your training schedule is important for athletes, even in colder seasons, and organising the event in August will keep the momentum going by encouraging participants to train throughout the year.
“It is important to realise that you can’t stop your training in winter just because you are cold and you are struggling to get to the gym. It is very important to keep training year-round… Most people who are entering the Competition have been training hard. They have to get all their movements properly done, they have to get their fitness up so this is motivating them to train through the winter, which is usually a time when a lot of people slack off or take time off.”
CrossFit, according to Robbie, does not only help with physical wellness but can help improve mental wellbeing as well.
“When you are training hard, you forget about all the problems at home and all the problems you have at your work. Getting away from the problems of your life is a big plus in CrossFit because also the way we structure workouts, we plan it for you,” he says.
Attendance will be free and the event will be open to the public.
