Cartoon Network, channel 301 on DStv, is airing all new episodes of the award-winning animated sit-com, The Amazing World of Gumball, which follows the misadventures of twelve-year-old cat Gumball and his family (The Wattersons) in the weird and wonderful town of Elmore, on South African television screens this November.
To kick-start the excitement around these brand new episodes, Cartoon Network will run a "Draw a Character Competition" from 7 November until 28 November, asking kids aged six to thirteen years old to illustrate a new friend for Gumball and his Elmore High classmates. Entries will be judged in two age categories: 0-6 and 7-13 years old and this means that there will officially be two lucky prize winners. Each winning entrant will have their design transformed into a bespoke plush toy which will be presented to them by Gumball and his anthropomorphic best pal, Darwin, in a special prize-giving at a popular mall in South Africa – just in time for Christmas!
Fans of the show can submit their drawings online at www.cartoonnetworkhq.com/gumball where they can find competition guidelines and Ts & Cs, plus a whole range of fun Gumball-themed games. Kids will also be able to enter at 10 participating Pick n Pay Hyper stores in and around Gauteng, while their parents are shopping. Two activators will encourage them to use their imagination to conceive and create a unique friend for Gumball – which could also end up being a cuddly friend of their very own! To add even more excitement and get their creative juices flowing, fans can look forward to live appearances from Gumball and Darwin in select stores!
