The Free State Department of Health is closing in on the targeted vaccinated herd immunity figure. This after the Free State Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, said the province needs to have 111 000 people vaccinated before the end of the year.
According to Mvambi, the province needs 8% of people to vaccinate so that they can reach their targeted 70% of vaccinated people in the province by end of December. Mvambi appealed to all eligible people, starting from 12-year-olds to the elderly, to get vaccinated.
“As we approach the festive season, we appeal to everyone to ensure that they play their part to save our country. We are the V-generation, let’s all get vaccinated for the love of our country, our continent, the world and all its people,” he said.
Mvambi also reiterated the importance of adhering to Covid-19 protocols, which include the regular washing of hands, the wearing of a face mask and adhering to social distancing. Bloemfontein Courant previously reported that Mvabi had raised concerns over the newly detected Covid-19 variant, Omicron, in the country.
