OFM News reports that this, in the light of the increase in the number of daily cases. The Free State has been listed among the top three provinces contributing to high Covid-19 positive cases since the country moved to level 1 of the national lockdown.

Departmental spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, in a statement confirms South Africa has seen a slow but steady increase in the overall number of cases nationally since the start of the month – and that the Free State is one of the leading provinces responsible for the increase.

He further confirms the province records more and more cases per day, and this has become a source of major concern.

The province currently has 56 196 positive cases, 1 493 deaths and 41 290 recoveries.

Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, has also warned that South Africa is seeing a worrying increase in Covid-19 infections, especially in the Western Cape, and urged all South Africans to adhere to Covid-19 regulations.
