Each ANC member is expected to do community work every Friday.
According to Free State ANC Spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, it is part of the ANC Umvuselelo national campaign that was launched in Botshabelo last month by President Jacob Zuma. He said every ANC cadre is expected to give back by improving conditions of various communities.
Meeko added that it was a provincial and national campaign for all their members and it will continue till May 2015. He said their provincial target is to recruit 50 000 new members by the end of the campaign.
Meeko explained that at the end of the operation, the ANC will evaluate their planned campaigns, the impact it had and how many new members they reached.
“Some of the activities that we will be doing are that during the month of August there will be memorial lectures about various struggles that were led by women against apartheid. Olivier Tambo was born during the month of September and we will be celebrating him during that month by holding political lectures around political schools for members of the ANC Youth League and also holding a massive recruitment amongst young people,” said Meeko.
