South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) says beneficiaries will be able to fetch their new gold SASSA cards from its offices on the corner of Aliwal and Fontein Street in the Bloemfontein CBD on Saturday 27 October.
Residents of Mangaung as well as nearby communities can collect their new cards between 08:00 and 14:00 tomorrow. This is part of an effort by the agency to discontinue the use of the old cards.
SASSA says in a statement that beneficiaries who want payments through a bank are requested to bring a completed bank form to its offices.
“If a beneficiary wants to receive their grant through a card other than the Sassa card, they have to provide Sassa with a request for bank payment form,” explained spokesperson, Paseka Letsatsi.
Letsatsi has stated that beneficiaries should avoid requesting receipts when doing balance enquiries at ATMs.
“They should rather view their balances on the ATM screen to avoid unnecessary bank charges. They should also keep their PIN secret and not disclose it to anyone, including Sassa officials,” he said.
According to Letsatsi the new card is gold in colour with a Sassa and government emblem at the top of either side. The documents that beneficiaries are requested to bring include their original ID, child’s birth certificate and funeral policy mandates.
People will also be able to access other services and information on the day.
