The VKB Knights seamer, Gerald Coetzee, is set for a return when the team plays in their next CSA 4-Day match next week.
Coetzee missed the first two matches of the domestic season after sustaining a hamstring injury just before the start of the campaign.
While the Knights seamers have more than proven themselves during the past two games, Coetzee’s return will no doubt be welcomed.
Alfred Mothoa, Migael Pretorius and Mbulelo Budaza all put in match-winning performances against the Warriors and the Dolphins and they all made a massive impression.
Pretorius is however doubtful for the game against his former team the Lions due to an injury, while the destructive batsman, Jacques Snyman, is also battling with a niggle.
Coetzee knows how to wield the bat and score quickly and can be considered as a bowling all-rounder, rather than just as an outright seamer.
The Knights captain, Pite van Biljon, who also won’t be available due to international duty with the Proteas against England, told Bloemfontein Courant that the squad will have a slightly different look to it.
“The Lions at the Wanderers is a different ball game as to playing in Bloemfontein. The conditions are very much different to here.
“There will also be a few changes to the squad. Gerald Coetzee will be ready to play and then we also have one or two injuries.
“Although the squad will be a little bit different we are very excited for that game.
“The Wanderers is always a nice place to go play, and we’ve built our squad in such a way that we can play in all kinds of conditions.”
