Children’s theatre at its best

The Department of Drama and Theatre at the University of the Free State (UFS) will be presenting its new children’s theatre production, titled How High is Up?, in the Scaena Rehearsal Room on the UFS campus from 11 to 14 September. Set in “a world a bit like ours and a bit not”, the story centres around Little Star and her mission to make “time stand still” in order to save her old friend, Ba Gia, from dying.

On this quest, Little Star is assisted by the Bird Who Has No Wings, a witty yet caring character, with a heart of gold. Together, they fly through space, facing an extraordinary journey to meet the Magicians of Roaring Winds, Pouring Rain and Silent Snow.

Written by Brendan Murray and directed by Schoeme Grobler and Rondo Mpiti, the piece features at the back Katlego Mokgwamme (left) and Simbulele Moko, as well as Retha van Rjin (front). Tickets for the show are R25 per person or R20 per person for groups of 10 or more. Book through Computicket. For Group bookings, call Karen Combrinck at 051-401-2160.
