Coach Franco Smith has been keeping his cards very close to his chest with regards to his team, but has taken comfort out of the fact they the beat both the Bulls and Kings in their warm-up matches.
Smith is expected to name former BabyBok, Ox Nche, on the bench today for a possible debut, while the rest of the team remains a mystery.
Fred Zeilinga will in all likelihood be named at flyhalf, however, with Sias Ebersohn in the mix as well, either can don the number 10 jersey.
During Friday night’s awards dinner, Smith told Courant that he feels the Cheetahs were better in their warm-up games than what the score suggested.
“We were better than the results have actually shown,” said the former Springbok flyhalf.
“Looking into it, it’s the first time where I’ve been involved with the team where there were at least twenty-one clips on attack in a wet weather game.
“Usually it’s a dull affair and there are at least ten or eight clips one can have a look at, so I’m excited about that.
“Like I said, I don’t want to create pressure or ulterior expectations.
“We’ve just got to go out there and play to our strengths and please our crowd. I think that is going to be the most important thing.”
The Jaguares will be naming their squad at seven o’clock this evening and Friday’s match at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at seven as well.
