Celtic target wounded Platinum Stars

LEE KHOTLELE

Bloemfontein Celtic will be looking to be at their best when they host wounded Platinum Stars in their league match at Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium, in Botshabelo on Sunday afternoon.

Kick-off is at 15h00.

Dikwena suffered a shocking 1-0 loss to Swallows on Tuesday, but will be looking to not only bounce back with a win, but also spoil Siwelele’s unbeaten run at home this year.

Celtic are yet to taste a league defeat at home in 2014, and will play Stars, whom they last lost to in the 2012/13 season. They played to a goalless draw the last time they met.

In their home league matches this year, Celtic thumped University of Pretoria and Black Aces 2-0 and went on to beat Black Aces 2-1. They drew 1-all and 0-all with Supersport and Amazulu respectively.

Elsewhere, Free State Stars, who are still on a mission to move away from relegation zone, will travel to Durban on Saturday to face Amazulu, who will be in search of maximum points to maintain the top-eight spot.

Usuthu are on the seventh spot, equal with Platinum Stars on 35 points while Ea Lla Koto are one point ahead of 15th placed Polokwane City, with whom they drew 1-all in their last match.

The Durban-based side held Celtic to a goalless draw in Botshabelo last week, but will be hoping for a win this time against another Free State side.

In order to maintain their spot, Stars need to win or draw and hope University of Pretoria defeat City.

Still on Saturday, Soweto giants will entertain the Pretoria sides. In the afternoon, Supersport host Pirates at Lucas Moripe Stadium followed by a potential title decider between Sundowns and the defending champions, Kaizer Chiefs in the evening.
