Celtic defender Morena to make Bafana debut


Bloemfontein Celtic defender, Thapelo Morena will make his national debut this evening when Bafana Bafana lock horns with Swaziland in Mbabane this evening.

The 21-year-old star in the Phunya Sele Sele defence has been named in coach Shakes Mashaba’s starting XI for the match against our neighbours.

Morena will play alongside Thulani Hlatshwayo who takes the captains armband in the place of Dean Furman who is unavailable due to club commitments in England.

The side also sees the return of goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune who will start with the gloves after a long injury lay-off.

Daniel Cardoso of Free State Stars has also cracked the nod for his Bafana debut this evening.

While the side are without numerous stars, Mashaba said he chose a big squad in order to field the strongest possible team.

This evening’s match in Mbabane kicks off at 19:00, while on Sunday afternoon at 15:30 Bafana square up against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
