Case postponed for pharmacist assistant found with stolen medication

A case of a 56-year-old pharmacist’s assistant from Welkom was postponed for 28 August this year. Sonti Monatisa appeared at the Welkom Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after stolen medication was found in her house.

Monatisa was arrested earlier this month after medication comprising Antiretroviral and Tuberculosis worth approximately R20 000, was found in her home. She worked at the Bophelong Clinic. She got a R500 bail after her first court appearance.

David Motau, head of the Department of Health in the Free State, said the possibility that a syndicate is behind the incident is not excluded. Monatisa faces a charge of possession of stolen medication.
