CANSA FS pays tribute to their loved colleague

The CANSA Bloemfontein office (Olea Care Home) has paid homage to their colleague, Petros Mabila, who served at the office as a gardener for eight years.

Zurina Coetzee told Bloemfontein Courant that he will be remembered as a person who had a wonderful smile, chatter and for his friendly greetings early mornings with his spade in his hand.

“He was friendly by nature and our garden will always echo his greetings. When asked how he was, he would answer “Goed mme” followed by the broad smile he was so renowned for,” expressed Coetzee.

“He became like a family member to many patients and colleagues, whom he always treated with respect, frequently sharing proud stories of his 5 children and 3 grandchildren.”

CANSA FS was informed of his passing on 7 January, and have since taken to their social media to celebrate his life and dedication at the office.

The post reads as follows:

“It felt like they [the staff] knew each one of them [his family members], without ever meeting them in person.

When they met for the first time after Petros’ passing, they knew right away who each one was just by seeing their father’s characteristics in each one of them.

Petros touched so many lives with his smile, kindness and wisdom and will forever be part of the CANSA Bloemfontein family.”
