BWA opens nominations for 2013 Regional Business Achiever awards

In existence since 2001, the Regional Business Achiever Awards (RBAA) complement the annual Businesswoman of the Year awards which have been giving recognition to the country’s top businesswomen since the early 1980s. This year, however, there is an additional category to the usual five. These categories are: Entrepreneurs; Professionals; Corporates; Emerging Entrepreneurs; Social Entrepreneurs and the newest addition, Women in Government.
In order to qualify, nominees must meet the qualifying criteria for the relevant category and must be South African residents or citizens, be seen as role models, and be compliant with Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment codes. Nominees or people making nominations do not need to be members of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa. Nominations for the Free State branch are open until 31 May 2013.
“Our regional awards have become a very meaningful way of recognising the achievements of women right across the country in various walks of life. We urge people across the country to nominate women in business who they believe are making a difference and should be recognised for their efforts” says Claire Mathonsi, executive director of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa.
The Businesswomen’s Association is the largest and most prominent association of business and professional women in South Africa. While serving as the voice of women in business it also seeks to provide ongoing opportunities to advance the interests of women in business.
