Burnt down house leads to theft and arson case

A case of housebreaking to commit a crime, theft of a motor vehicle, and arson was opened at Park Road Police Station after the police received a complaint about a burnt-down house from an old age home in Van Heerden Street in Wilgehof.

On Sunday 2 June 2024, the police were called out. On arrival, the police established one of the units in the complex had burnt down.

According to spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Thabo Covane, a silver Mercedes Benz (2007) had been driven and stopped a distance away from the unit.

“A Telefunken television, camera and suitcase containing six (6) bottles of whiskey, stolen from the unit, were found inside the Mercedes Benz. It is alleged that the owner was at hospital during the time of the incident,” Covane mentioned.

The police are urging members of the community who might have information that can assist the investigation of the case to contact Captain Sabata Moseme at 082-526-2713.
