Bloemfontein’s Dean Burmester will be targeting a big week at the Joburg Open which tees off at the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club on Thursday morning.
The co-sanctioned European and Sunshine Tour event offers one of the biggest paydays with prize money of R16.5 million.
Burmester will be looking for a third top 10 finish on the European Tour this season and take one step closer to the elusive tour card.
The world number 151 says that he is happy with his golf thus far, but feels it’s time for a maiden European Tour win.
“I’m playing quite nicely, I think the European Tour events earlier in the season went quite well.
“I was probably better than expected, I did everything I needed to do other than a win.
“I’m back home for two weeks before I head over to most likely Morocco and hopefully I’ll go there with a win.
“That’s the plan and that’s the goal.
“I’m very happy with my game. Just a little more practice and fine-tuning and hopefully I’ll be up there come Sunday”
