The Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana, is set to present the 2025 Budget Speech in the National Assembly on Wednesday, 19 February, at 14:00.
During this address, Minister Godongwana will outline the government’s fiscal plans and priorities for the upcoming financial year.
In addition to delivering the Budget Speech, the minister will introduce the Appropriation Bill and table the 2025 Division of Revenue Bill. These legislative measures will undergo parliamentary scrutiny and processing in the months following the announcement.
The Budget Speech serves as a key platform for detailing the allocation of financial resources to support the national government’s priorities, as outlined by President Cyril Ramaphosa in his recent State of the Nation Address. This process underscores the government’s commitment to addressing critical economic and social challenges while advancing its policy agenda.
“The Budget Speech, among others, aims to balance economic growth and support for the vulnerable in our society despite limited resources,” stated Parliament spokesperson Moloto Mothapo. “Minister Godongwana will outline all the financial, economic, and social commitments the government will prioritise in its planned expenditure. He will provide a detailed plan for 2025 spending, including proposals for revenue collection to help fund the government’s planned interventions and commitments.”
Minister Godongwana’s Budget Speech will be broadcast live on Parliament TV (DSTV Channel 408) and livestreamed on Parliament’s website and social media platforms, including Parliament’s YouTube Channel.
