The Mangaung Shine Banyane Sports Club (MSBSC) joined forces with Botshabelo Roo Stars and the family of the late Karabo Qabalatsane, to bid him farewell. Qabalatsane died on 7 October 2016, during a match at the Engen national championships, played at the Pretoria Tuks Sports Centre.
As the Botshabelo Roo Stars under 17 team made their way to the final top three teams to battle to be crowned the Engen champions of Botshabelo, and to qualify for the Grey College 2017 Engen knockout tournament, they dedicated their matches to their late teammate.
MSBSC joined the campaign by handing over two sports certificates to the Qabalatsane family and the team.
The day was very difficult one for Botshabelo Roo Stars FC as they drew 1-1 against Napoli FC and lost 1-0 against Botshabelo LYNX. Botshabelo LYNX won 1-0 against Napoli, while Botshabelo LYNX qualified with 6 points. Roo Stars and Napoli each scored one point each.
“I am very disappointed and speechless. The boys too. They can’t believe this. We have given everything but our finishing failed us. Now we feel guilty as we wanted to do all this for Karabo ‘Messy’ Qabalatsane and if he was here the results we had could have been different. We are really heart broken, while on the other hand, MSBSC has been giving us massive support since the boy passed on. We appreciate what they are doing and accept these awards with sorrow instead of happiness,” said Roo Stars Coach, Tshidiso ‘Tshasa’ Goeieman.
“Karabo was a true sports person and filled all of us with pride. He was loyal to what he was doing and his contribution was seen and valued. That’s why Mangaung Shine Bayane Sports Club will always remember him,” said MSBSC vice chairperson, Paseka Motapane, while handing over the certificates to the team and the family. –Â Lebakeng Nkabi
