Excitement is in the air as the isicathamiya group, Botshabelo Kilimanjaro, has once again been nominated for the South African Traditional Music Awards (Satma). This is the fourth time the group has been nominated in the category for best isicathamiya album, this time for their album, Tshepo yaka.
Many people from around the Mangaung Metro congratulated Botshabelo Kilimanjaro on the group’s success, which has put Mangaung on the map. The nomination is great motivation to the youth and shows that perseverance and hard work can open doors. Many supporters have pledged to vote for the group and make sure that it brings the award home.
Group leader, Daeke John Mokhoele, told Bloemfontein Courant that this not the first time they have been nominated. “We have been nominated for Satma awards since 2015, without any luck, but we are confident that this time, with the help of the Mangaung community voting for us, we will bring the award home.
On the second of this month we visited the Botshabelo Old Age Home as a way to thank the community for their support. We cleaned up the place and planted trees to celebrate the spring season. The celebration will continue on the 24th of September during Botshabelo’s 40-year anniversary at Nicro Hall,” Mokhoele said.
To vote for Botshabelo Kilimanjaro, SMS SATMA 152 to 49495. The closing date is 27 September 2019.
