A body was found this past weekend floating in the flood water under Dr Belcher Bridge in Bloemfontein.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) requires assistance to identify the deceased. The body was found on 31 December around 3 pm. The Dr Belcher road remains closed due to standing flood water.
“Parkweg Police were called to a scene under the bridge in Dr Belcher Road, Bloemfontein next to the long distance taxi rank. Where the body of an unknown male was found floating.”
The statement mentions that the victim was found wearing a pair of white tekkies, grey tracksuit pants and a white tracksuit top. “The body was retrieved from the water by the South African Police diving unit.”
The statement further mentions that the cause of death is still being investigated and will only be made known after the results of the post-mortem.
